The Royal Borough of Greenwich is dominated by beautiful period properties, many of which are furnished with stunning examples of all types of wool and silk rugs. Kilims are flatweave rugs with no pile which are usually made using vegetable dyes. These dyes can bleed if not tested first and so we take extra special care when cleaning these types of rugs. Tribal rugs such as Gabbehs are very popular in entrance hallways as they are easy to find as runners and their thick pile makes them very hard wearing. Unfortunately the thickness of the pile also means it can be very difficult to remove all the dry soil from these rugs. Dry soil is a rug's worst enemy which is why we use advanced mechanical rug beating systems to remove as much of it as possible before the wash process. Many of our clients with larger properties in the Greenwich & Blackheath area own beautiful fine Persian carpets which are trusted to us for regular maintenance and restoration. These large rugs with very high knot counts and usually containing silk require specialist facilities in order to be cared for properly. We can collect, clean, and deliver rugs in excess of 20ft long and we even relay rugs under furniture free of charge if required.
